So, I am a big fan of reading. I oftentimes can’t sit down and read a book, so I utilize Audible (Try it out for free! It is very cost effective when compared to hard copies. You get one credit that rolls over each month if you don’t use it!)
While, as a hustler, I am a firm believer in “Making Your Own Story” and not wasting time reading other people’s stories…I do find a lot of merit in having a wider knowledge base and perspective.
With that being said, I wanted to share the 10 Best Books for you to read to take your hustle game to the next level in 2019!

#1. Crush It – Gary Vaynerchuk
This book may be ~10 years old but the principles are still the same in today’s world.
Gary Vaynerchuk is one of the top hustlers in the game, and this book is a blueprint as to how you can be too.
The book is an A+ in my opinion, and you will hear not only how to turn your passion into a profession through social media – but hear tales of others who have as well. You do not want to miss it!
P.S. If you like this, check out Gary’s follow up book Crushing It!
#2. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*co – Mark Manson
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
So this one is essential to get you in the right mindset. There is a reason when you walk into bookstores it is STILL on the bestsellers list. It’s because it is truly valuable.
My therapist asked me to read this book as homework in our first session. Remember my little anxiety bout?
It was life changing. It puts life into perspective. It gets you in a mindset that you need to be in to be a successful hustler, or really to achieve and get what you want and deserve in life.
I totally recommend this book to anyone who wants to get stronger and/or better mentally. It absolutely helped me. Stop letting others rent space in your mind! I beg you!
And by the way, my Art of Giving a F*ck… probably isn’t so subtle anymore. 🤔
#3. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen Covey
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Habits. We all have them. Some good. Some bad.
People live and die by their habits, and your hustle game is no different.
I am obviously not going to give away the 7 Habits in the book, but I think after reading it and adopting some of these habits you will realize why this book has been impacting everyone from CEOs to Teachers to (Yes!) Hustlers and Entrepreneurs!
Don’t miss out on this one, folks!
#4. How to Win Friends and Influence People – Dale Carnegie
How to Win Friends and Influence People
First things first, if you read no other book on this list…I BEG YOU to give this one a shot.
This should be a mandatory part of any curriculum and a prerequisite read for those that Hustle.
I would also like to remind you that our full name here is The ICONIC Hustle. You want to talk about iconic – this book is it. Don’t believe me? Just look at that gold seal. Over 80 years this book has been teaching people how to gain Influence! That’s literally over 2.5 lifetimes of mine…
All the greats in the hustle game can influence people. If you can’t, you probably won’t have a great deal of success. This small 10 dollar investment will give you unbelievable ROI.
So dig deep in those pockets. Check the couch cushions. Click the link. Order it. Receive it in 2 days (thank you prime). Take all of the info in. And watch your life change!
#5. Rise and Grind – Daymond John
Straight from the mind of a Shark to your retinas, Rise and Grind will motivate you and gear you up to outperform, outwork, and OUTHUSTLE your competition (as promised on the cover).
The advice in this book is extremely valuable, and comes from an incredibly impressive hustler. From FUBU to Shark Tank, Daymond John has worked his ass off for every penny and every bit of success that he has.
I don’t think you will be disappointed in this best seller!
Plus…if you are a true hustler the title alone is right up your alley!
#6. Side Hustle: From Idea to Income in 27 Days – Chris Guillebeau
From Side Hustle to Income in 27 Days
You might find the title a little far fetched on this one, but I assure the value does lie inside.
This has quickly become one of the most popular hustle themed books on the market.
This is about building a business out of your passion. It is much more than a get rich quick or make a few bucks in a day scheme. It is really inspiring and will help you earn a living in 27 days if you follow it and work your ass off!
(NOTE: When clicking the link you may have to change the format from kindle to hardcover. And if you don’t have a Kindle – I recommend this one. It’s badass!)
#7. What If It Does Work Out? – Susie Moore
What If It Does Work Out?
One of the biggest fears we all have is failure. Failure prevents us from trying. The judgement of our failures by others prevents us from trying as well.
This leads us to a mindset of, “What if I fail?”
Well, Susie Moore challenges that traditional way of thinking in this book. She asks you, “What if it does?!”
If you are a bit unsure of yourself I totally recommend this for you. Change your perspective. Find your purpose. Remember your purpose. And grind hard for your purpose everyday.
#8. Hustle – Neil Patel, Patrick Vlaskovits & Jonas Koffler
Ok. Well I had to include this because of the name.
Aside from that, I am a bit of a Neil Patel fanboy as well. I only hope I can make him proud by using his awesome SEO tips and promoting a book he contributed to!
So enough about me. What about you?
Do you have dreams you endlessly think about but never take action on? Do you feel like you’re paying rent to live in someone else’s dreams rather than owning your own?
Then guess what…this book is for you. This book will open your eyes and is sure to up your Hustle game.
Tell me you don’t have a different perspective after reading this!
#9. Hustle and Float – Rahaf Harfoush
Hustle and Float
Creativity. Hustle. Burnout.
This book has truly helped me find a balance. Additionally, it has helped me remember to work with purpose.
I am going to copy the description here. This is the part that captivated me the most and enticed me to give this one a try. Hopefully you see value in it as well and give it a read!
“Hustle and Float explores how our work culture creates contradictions between what we think we want and what we actually need, and points the way to a more humane, more sustainable, and, yes, more creative, way of working and living.”
Dig it? Me too.
10. The Lean Startup – Eric Ries
The Lean Startup
Lean, agile, flexible. No, I am not talking about my body.
I am talking about what your side hustle, or full time business can be!
I actually read this during my MBA program at Villanova University, and it made a ton of sense.
In today’s world, if we apply the principles of the past such as taking 18 months to write a business plan before we operate – we will have missed the window and our plan is obsolete!
Everything moves faster and to succeed you have to remain agile. This means being able to capitalize on opportunities as they arise without having to drastically change your structure.
This book will help you with this concept. It will help you feel more confident taking on risks. It is great for all leaders, wanna-be leaders, startup employees, and so many more. I definitely recommend it, as I see it being practical, rigorous and extremely valuable to all of you!
Well folks, that completes the list. I really do encourage you to pick up or listen to these books. They are truly helpful to all of us hustlers.
I have applied so much advice from a multitude of these books and I am very grateful to have found them. I hope that I have pointed you to one that helps you crush your goals and improve your hustle.
I started this blog as a way of escapism, a way to vent, and a way to share an admiration of those who hustle.
Your support is & has been incredible! You could be reading anything else in the world right now, but you are rockin’ with me. And that is incredibly humbling.
